Michael Hoffman, CPIA – Branch Owner at Compass Insurance Agency of Byron Center, takes pride in developing a plan to meet each customer’s insurance needs and helping them protect themselves by providing recommendations on a continuous basis.

Due to the agency’s partnerships with 20 insurance companies, Michael has the ability to take a snapshot of the market place for customers and figure out what the best fit is for them based on their individual risk profile. Using the market place snapshot and their risk profile, Michael can not only find the right insurance carrier for customers, but he can also get the best price for them.

Michael ensures his customers have all of the resources they need including:

A customer advocate to assist them with changes to their account
A billing specialist to help customers decipher their bill
Agent specialists to help customers with their life, health and investment needs

As an independent agent, Michael has the freedom to make each customer’s coverage needs a top priority. He is thankful for every single customer and grateful they trust him to ensure their home, car, motorcycle, RV, ATV or boat is protected.Compass Insurance Agency of Byron Center specializes in personal lines of home and auto insurance. Michael and his co-branch owner, James Blaauw, wanted to focus on these types of insurance in order to further hone their expertise in them.Michael got his start in the insurance industry 10 years ago at Farmer’s Insurance, where he spent three years in their call center and received world-class training. He made the decision to move on because he wanted to provide a more personalized, solid experience to each customer. After working at Jack Hoedeman’s Compass Insurance Agency branch, Michael and James co-founded their own branch of the agency.Michael recently obtained his leadership degree from Central Michigan University in Science. He and James both have their CPIA (Certified Professional Insurance Agent), a critical insurance designation.

Growing up, Michael spent most weekends playing in soccer tournaments across the Midwest and attending Special Olympics events with his brother, Matthew. After graduating from Jenison High School, he completed college coursework at Davenport University while also serving as captain of the DSU Soccer Team.

These days, Michael enjoys spending his time with wife Ashley and sons Carter and Preston. Golfing and bowling are two of his favorite hobbies. He has bowled in several national tournaments across the United States! Michael is an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. NASCAR is another great love of his. In fact, Michael attends a race on Father’s Day every year at the Michigan International Speedway with his father and brothers. In his spare time, Michael gives back by volunteering with the March of Dimes, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Special Olympics.

Tuesday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Wednesday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Thursday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Friday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m

By appointment on Saturdays.

He makes himself available to customers outside of these hours, as well.
